    Why Do Management Professionals Need A Tech Advantage?

    • You find it easier to define what is needed in terms that a developer team can easily understand.
    • You can discuss the scope of any project knowing what may have a bigger impact on the collective efforts of the group.
    • You can build relationships faster with all members of the team. Specially, the technical background would help a management professional understand the system as a whole and more importantly understand the concerns raised or solution provided by the technical teams. This way, we as managers and leaders can contribute in create a robust solution.

    Concisely, having a tech advantage is like being the interface between the business world and the technical world. As a manager with technical know-how, one can have a foot in each world and understand both technical issues and business issues. The best tech-managers find good solutions when technical concerns conflict with business concerns and vice-versa. This cannot be done without understanding both sides of the problem.

    As we are talking about a Tech-manager the background usually means one can build relationships faster with teams. It’s easier to speak the same language and understand how to transmit ideas in a way that will compel engineers. Hence, it’s a win- win situation and also can lead to the enhancement in the overall performance. There is a bigger likelihood that the project goals will be understood by all team members, the results will get achieved and the projects closed on time.

    Businesses have been able to change from small mom-and-pop shops to global household names because to technological advancements. Technology’s potential to improve a company’s competitive advantage in the marketplace by promoting strategic thinking and information transfer is one of the most fundamental advantages of technology in business. Companies may now aggregate, understand, and transfer information like never before by accessing and exploiting social networks and subscription databases.

    This has provided businesses with unprecedented access to customers and consumers, allowing them to produce new and improved products. Technology is assisting in the reshaping of the corporate landscape. Technology is no more an obscure phenomenon that exists only in the context of specific organisations and industries. Different companies can build a sustained competitive advantage through technical innovation, which can help them solidify their position as a segment or industry leader. The same concepts can be applied to all leaders and managers.

    The advantage that tech can provide companies by giving them competitive advantage, is equally applicable when it comes to an individual manager – they are quick and adaptable, they use the right tools and platforms to solve problems or simplify processes, they understand all aspects of any project or business requirement, they take the team along, and can use technical know-how to propel business goals.

    Technology and Business Management combined, improve decision-making for key IT initiatives by automating reporting, assisting executives in managing the cost and quality of the services they consume, allocating IT resources to the most important business priorities, and transforming IT from a cost centre to a profit enabler.

    • Establish a clear process for analysing and managing information technology.
    • Create a framework for managing information technology as a business.
    • Communicate the business’s value of new IT investments.
    • IT can be transformed into IT-as-a-business-service.
    • Allow for efficient system replacement while maintaining a suitable cost-benefit ratio.
    • To improve technology services and high-priority business activities, benchmark IT resources.
    • To achieve specific business results by combining IT services with business competencies.

    Additionally, having additional skills, especially in tech, can also help a manager better compensation, ample job opportunities and a clear ROI beyond just an MBA degree – The degree enables them to be future ready with a great career advantage.
