Driven by a desire for positive impact and societal change, millennials actively seek roles that offer a profound sense of purpose. Contributing to industry or community improvement is a key factor in their job loyalty. Conversely, lacking the meaningful innovation they desire may prompt them to switch roles. Despite being stereotyped as “lazy”, reports reveal millennials grasp the necessity of progressing into leadership roles. The 2019 Millennial Manager Workplace Survey indicates that 54% are aligned with the idea of “paying their dues,” while 64% find it reasonable to spend up to two years in a role before seeking advancement.

Nearly half express gratitude for current opportunities, acknowledging the need for constant upskilling alongside aspirations for better positions.

In the dynamic landscape of today’s professional world, individuals are breaking barriers and redefining career paths. Aditya, a testament to this trend, embarked on a transformative journey that shifted not just his job but his entire career trajectory. Let’s delve into Aditya’s narrative —

A compelling story of transition and the evolving aspirations of today’s youth!

I was working in the manufacturing sector, however, I developed a desire to explore the HR functions. I got the opportunity to shift my career at the SOIL Institute of Management. The Career Management Service (CMS) team provided us with feedback and what I would call constructive criticism, which helped us to improve our interviewing, and discussion skills, and periodic mock interviews helped us gain confidence. The industry-relevant, innovative pedagogy at the one-year MBA – PGPM-HR made us industry-ready. The live projects under immersive learning helped us learn about modern business and insights into the kind of roles we will take up shortly. The CMS teams also help us identify our strengths and weaknesses and encourage us to look for roles that would be beneficial for us in the long run. Besides, SOIL helps us look within ourselves, identify our potential, and become what we are seeking. There are also numerous leadership sessions and opportunities to connect with alumni that help us connect with industry leaders and expand our network.

I got the opportunity to move on to this HR function and I got placed as a functional consultant, which essentially means that I’ll be responsible for the digital transformation of the client organization.
