My Thoughts As Term 1 Ends

A prudent scholar is a lifelong learner who is eager to learn something new every day. Even in these difficult times, it is that ‘willingness to learn’ that has brought people from all over the world together via digital means. In this one-year program with SOIL, we are all now digitally connected to learn, contribute, and develop into becoming the best versions of ourselves while taking control of our lives.

As we come to an end of Term 1, there is so much to look behind and appreciate about the entire journey. It’s only mesmerizing to see how much we have learnt in a just a span of 3 months.

Whilst I am relishing this transformation experience, it was not how I thought of while I was planning my MBA. I had many questions on my mind and a few misconceptions about learning online before I started. On May 30th, the program officially started and a completely new experience was awaited. Despite all the odds, there were quite a few things I found most interesting about online learning. I pictured a virtual classroom full of glassy-eyed students improving their understanding, learning new skills and gaining valuable experience.

Various classroom discussions, involvement in exercises, case studies discussion and interactive sessions allowed us to know each other. The ice was breaking and the batch gradually started to enjoy the flexibility of virtual learning. Zoom sessions replaced classrooms, WhatsApp calls renewed discussions and we got along.

As a response to the COVID 19 challenge, we can observe how SOIL has revised the courses and subjects offered to students in order to facilitate learning that aligns with the skills required in the upcoming job market. The digital market space has taken another sharp upward turn and has evolved faster than ever before with new powerful sectors leading the pack. Different fields like data analytics, remote management, digital business, technology advancements among others have created even more demand for jobs. SOIL has started offering subjects which foster alignment with the required skill sets in the job market.

So far, my experience with SOIL has been a fantastic learning experience. Guest sessions, lectures, and webinars have always been extremely informative. We had incredible opportunities to learn from industry leaders, including founders, CEOs, CHROs, CXOs, and top leaders from various industries! They discussed current issues and shared their personal journeys. Sessions on Banking, Analytics, Marketing Conclave is worth a million mention! Its External, Internal & Alumni Mentorship program is another cherry on the cake.

Mr. Anil Sachdev’s Self Leadership classes are truly amazing, as he assists us in designing our journey toward a life of meaning and purpose.

SOIL ensures that there is a balance between industry application and academia and the sessions and lectures by our faculty and experts on all kinds of specializations guide us all towards a holistic approach to learning.

As the saying goes, "learning never stops," and we learn something new every day. So, with this firm step toward becoming the best version of ourselves, I hope we will all emerge stronger and more informed for our future endeavours and continue on our lifelong learning journey, as we gear up for the much-awaited Placement Season under CMS guidance.
