Being an MBA Aspirant, a lot of preparation goes into give one’s best to become eligible for one’s dream B School. It can be both an exciting and a nerve cracking at the same time to apply to the college or institution of your dreams. Nobody enjoys filling out forms, but it is a critical part of the admissions process. SOIL started its Flagship PGDM programme in Design Thinking to inculcate the capability of Innovation in order to come up with best solutions to any situations that arise in this dynamic world of uncertainty and change.

For the same, it offers a very unique and thoughtful selection process which not only depends on the marks scored in an aptitude test or a position obtained in the same, but the overall attitude and willingness to collaborate and learn.

The first thing that you discover in the admission process here is who you are! Thus, it’s a selection process and not an elimination process. Everyone is unique in their own way and hence this interesting process helps you to know what your strengths are and what skills need to be polished. The process also explores what your hidden potential is which can be nurtured further.

The admission process at SOIL starts with the careful understanding of your application form, understanding your overall profile, followed by a Group Discussion, Design Thinking Workshop and a Personal Interview.

Group Discussion is a round where you are given a topic or a situation to discuss. This helps the faculty to assess your keen understanding of the same, your assertiveness, ability to listen, collaborate, communicate and come to a desirable conclusion. It basically helps to know how keen a person is to know about what’s happening around them and gain knowledge consistently to utilise it effectively in making proper decisions.

Design Thinking Workshop is an interesting glimpse to the world of Design Thinking and Innovation wherein students collaborate with each other to come up with a solution to the given problem by thinking with an open mind. The team work approach works best here and helps in gaining insights by applying the 5 steps of Design Thinking – Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. The workshop aims to find students who are extremely good and efficient at real-time working environments rather than identifying students solely based on their past academic performances or entrance exam scores.

The personal interview round is a round of self-discovery that looks at taking in the best talent on a score of parameters such as:
- Willingness to learn
- Being independent and thinking beyond common perceptions and biases
- Commitment to build oneself and make a difference and not just merely getting a job
- Motive to develop business acumen along with creative and analytical skills.
The capability of Management includes a mixture of psychological and psychographic measures and being able to showcase your innate abilities with proper preparation is the key to cracking the admissions process.
