What Can a Comprehensive Program in HR Analytics Equip You With

The increasing use of technology in organizations has led to generation of a huge amount of data about people, processes, business and context. But, while it is widely recognized that people-related decisions are crucial in shaping the organization’s performance, this huge amount of data does not always translate into aligning organization strategy with the organization’s HR policies and practices.

In an ideal scenario, insights from data should help analyze the effectiveness of policies and impact of processes on the organization. This should then form the basis of reviewing existing policies and processes, and formulating new ones. And a comprehensive program in HR Analytics would equip HR professionals to gain the skills to achieve this.

The application of HR analytics extends much beyond dashboards and application of statistical tools. For example, descriptive analytics can be used for analyzing the attrition data to derive insights about retention strategies. Similarly, predictive analytics can be used for analyzing performance data to predict the future performance of a newcomer.

An exhaustive program would expose the participants to various techniques of collecting data and the role of quantitative as well qualitative data. It would train the participants to pose the right questions in order to approach the solution.

Data visualization makes small as well as big data easier for human brain to comprehend. It also helps make it easier to detect patterns, trends and outliers in groups of data. An extensive program would equip the participants with visualization techniques, and also train them on how to communicate the insights derived out of data using these techniques.

Thus, a well-rounded program sets the way for assessing, designing and transforming HR systems and processes based on solid evidence and data, thus, enhancing the alignment between HR and strategy. With their domain expertise and understanding of the linkages between HR systems and organization strategy, HR professionals are in the right place to harness the potential of HR analytics for making strategic decisions.
