Internship Overview

For many of our PGDM students, Summer Internships is the first real time work experience they have. Summer Internships will allow you to apply the skills and lessons learned in a classroom in the real world of business. It also provides an opportunity for students to work in their preferred sector and identify their fit and the work environment in that sector. Internships are a mandatory academic requirement and happens between the term 3 and term 4 break.

Summer Internship Process at SOIL

The internship process starts at Day 1 in college for our PGDM students. Since most of our PGDM batch are graduates with a lower work experience, the process of getting them placements ready starts early. The Career Development Team at SOIL will guide you in what to follow and students are required to co-operate with the CDA team throughout their Summer Internship process. The internship process is given below.

1 Identification of interest areas

The CMS team identifies the student interest areas in terms of their previous industry and domain knowledge.

2 Preparation of students

Students go through a series of activities which prepares them to be recruitment ready. Cv writing, mock interviews, group discussion, dressing etiquette networking

3 Inviting Companies

The careers team rolls out the Job Description profile for the upcoming placements processes. Students can apply to the company after analysing their interest areas with the job requirements and apply through the career online portal.

4 Pre Interview Round

The pre interview rounds generally consists of Group Discussions, Written ability test or psychometric tests. These vary according to the company and students will be notified of the requirements from their end.

5 Final Interview & Offer Result

This round is usually a multiple round on technical, business and leadership abilities. The offer results will be announced by the Careers Team

6 Internship Report

After the completion of the summer internships, students are mandatorily required to submit a project report and participate in a project presentation session. Without this step, the internships would be considered not complete.

Summer Internships 2019-20

The Internship process for the first batch of PGDM students were successfully completed in April 2020. Due to the COVID pandemic, the process got delayed but SOIL’s strong bonds with the industry network helped us in securing projects for all of its students.

SOIL witnessed a total of 21 companies visiting the campus for the summer internship process. There were ample number of firms from the BFSI, Consulting, Healthcare & FMCG sectors enabling the students to choose their preferred sector.
