The core purpose of a PGDM program is to impart a management acumen in its students. At SOIL, we start by allowing the student to explore the foundational courses in Management and giving them time to gain core business skills – developing an understanding of Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources. After this, the students are offered the option of selecting their specialization to gain in-depth knowledge.

Students get various opportunities to test their theoretical knowledge in a real-life scenario through live projects, summer internships and group projects.

1. Foundation Courses (Term 1 to 2)

Gives students from any discipline a fundamental background in business. The foundation courses allow you to supplement a non-business course of study with the business knowledge necessary to prepare yourself for upcoming academic rigour.

2. Advanced Management (Term 2 to 3)

Students learn advanced courses in management and a higher amount of learning is through case study discussions, group project work etc., These projects require students to combine their fundamental knowledge of various business subjects.

3. Specialization (Term 4,5,6)

The program offers specializations in Marketing, Finance, Analytics and Human Resources. Students have to complete a minimum of 18 credit points to be a major in that elective.

Marketing Understand markets, competitors, and portfolios of product offerings and operating technologies.

Finance Finance electives provides students with the tools required to take on financial leadership roles in both the private and public sector.

Human Resources Learn more about Organizational Behavior & Transformation, Compensation,, Labour Laws etc.,

Analytics Get Exposed to the state-of-the-art tools and techniques for solving business problems with real-world data

Focus on Design Thinking

Understanding and developing the practice of a design thinking led approach to problem-solving is a proven way of improving student’s innovation and creative skills. At SOIL, students learn Design Thinking through various classroom subjects, case studies, project work, design boot camps etc.,

All the permanent faculty at SOIL go through Faculty Development Sessions to learn about Design Thinking and how to inculcate Design Thinking in their day to day classroom teaching.

Foundation in Liberal Arts:

A liberal arts education does more than teaching students the skills you need for a successful career; it provides you with the experiences and understanding the purpose of your life.

Today’s employers value soft skills more than ever. Our foundation program aims at teaching the students the following:

Psychology for managers

Analyse a range of factors within and outside individuals which influence mind and behaviour

Critical analysis using data

Learn basic and advanced excel to deal with problems involving data sets that reflect real business life situations.

Sourcing Inspiration – Key to Self Leadership

Gain understanding of the “Panch Kosha” model and the six layers of “self” as expounded in Indian wisdom m traditions.

Yoga and Wellness for healthy life

Acquire familiarity with the basic practice of asana, pranayama and relaxation and demonstrate proficiency in their execution.

Managerial Communication – Written

The course on Written Managerial Communication focuses on comprehension, expression, and articulation in written verbal communication.

Social and cultural Anthropology

Study the culture and people’s beliefs, practices and social organization of human groups through ideas, behaviours and physical environment.

Industry & Career Learning

1.Industry Visits

Focuses on preparing the students to learn about the day-to-day workings of industries and understand its operational issues. The visits also help keep students abreast with the current management practices followed by such organizations and acquire traits that the industry demands of them.

2.Industry Live Projects

Students work on a real-time project helping a company with analysing business situations and developing implementable strategies. These projects can be obtained by connecting with the faculty members and the career management services at SOIL.

3.Leadership Series Talks

The SOIL Leadership series seeks to provide a platform for the most senior executives from the industry t address pertinent leadership issues and share their insights with the SOIL graduates.

Our lectures have featured many of the world’s most influential leaders and thinkers. Topics range from telling the story of a speaker’s leadership journey, industry-specific leadership examples or discussions of the various aspects a company and the CEOs face on the job.

4.Industry Academy Week

Every year we hold an Industry Academy Week to close the gap between the Industry, academia and the graduates. These weeks provide a great opportunity for students to pause and focus on building their creative networks and determining their future careers whilst reflecting on their own learnings.

This event happens in the month of November after the completion of the first semester.

Standout Experiential Immersions

1.Global Immersion Trek

Business is the means for creating value, synergies and efficiencies around the world. Our students undergo a two-week-long international study tour in one of the leading business capitals of the world. This tour combines on-campus lectures, projects and assignments as well as experiential formats like workshops. It is an excellent opportunity to experience and understand these business capitals from close quarters.

2.Himalayan Rural Immersion

Students undertake a trip to the scenic village of Sidhbari located on the outskirts of Dharamshala along the feet of the Himalayas. Student’s visit the nearby Cord village to interact with the local communities and understand their political, economic & cultural aspects. Students form groups to present their ideas & solutions to improve the lives of the people around Cord.

3.Discover India Train Journey

This program aims at exposing the students to various cultures of India. A 10-day long trip, the initiative has a major focus on understanding various business capitals of our country and their historic relevance. Students would also learn about various business practices across different part of India

4.Annual Innovation Festival

The culmination of the entire teaching-learning experience that a student undergoes during the 2 Year PGDM program. The fair will be an opportunity for the students to showcase their learnings, reflections, and their impact on the Manesar community.

The School will also invite community stakeholders to present their learning and intentions to build upon the work done by students through an Innovation FAIR

Other Experiential Highlights

1.Visual Arts Workshop

Students are taught how to improve their communicatin using Stories. Mr. Vishal Prabhakar, a Visual Artist, conducted the ‘Storytelling with Graphics’ session for SOBD charter Batch students, as part of the Induction Program.

2. Art Appreciation through Museum, Theater & Art Gallery Walks

Students visits nearyby museums, theatres to understand the importance of art and the business models of the museums etc., Batch of 2019-21 visited Heritage Transport Museum near Manesar, Gurgaon

3. Pottery Design Workshop

As part of a project work, students took a real life pottery class from experts and started assembling their own work. Students were asked to make a business model and create the product using clay. This is a way of teaching where students do idea generation and prototyping of the product which plays a key aspect according to design thinking.

4. Self-Leadership through Community Outreach

As part of the self leadership module, students learn about themselves, trying to identify their true potential and purpose. After the classroom lectures, students are divided into groups which then visits various holy shrines of all religions across Delhi. This improves their understanding of a higher purpose.
