In the past, businesses were primarily focused on maximizing profits, with little regard for their impact on society. However, in recent years, this has changed as consumers and investors have become more concerned about issues such as climate change, income inequality, and social justice.<\/p>\n<p>This question reflects the fact that many students are entering business school with a desire to make a positive impact on the world. These students are looking for ways to use their business skills to address social and environmental challenges, rather than simply pursuing careers in finance or consulting.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, there are still many students who believe that the primary goal of a business is to make money. These students argue that without profits, a business cannot survive, let alone make a positive impact on society. They believe that businesses have a responsibility to their shareholders to maximize profits, and that any focus on social or environmental concerns should be secondary.<\/p>\n<p>So, what is the answer to the question &#8211; purpose or profits? The truth is that there is no easy answer. <\/p>\n<p>Both purpose and profits are important, and businesses need to find a balance between the two.<\/p>\n<p>On the one hand, businesses that are solely focused on profits may engage in practices that are harmful to society and the environment. For example, a company that cuts corners on safety or environmental regulations to increase profits may ultimately harm its workers and the communities in which it operates.
