I would describe our batch as a unit of diverse yet alike individuals who are aspiring for a bright future that SOIL can provide. The purpose of education is not only to provide practical experience of literature found in books but also to re-mold the learner into a more empathetic and responsible human being. All this is possible only when the learner is in an environment that is enriched with diversity and allows understanding and learning from multiple aspects. SOIL is one such platform which has provided me with the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and equally ambitious peers.<\/p>\n
Peers play a significant role in any person\u2019s life. They influence an individual’s attitude and behavior on many cultural and social levels, and even in the development and expression of prejudice. I can proudly say that SOIL has made me acquainted with people who are from varying geographical domains, cultural and educational backgrounds. Our batch consists of students from all across the country. Maharashtra, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab are only to name a few states. The educational background of people is equally diverse. We have determined students who have earlier pursued streams like Law, Zoology, Engineering, Commerce, etc. Our batch, thus has access to collective knowledge of bankers, accountants, engineers, social sector, liberal arts and so much more. The experience and knowledge acquired from these fields, not only helps us to get solutions to problems from better perspectives but also aids in initiating new ideas. As it is correctly said, teamwork makes dream work.<\/p>\n
Our batch also has a significant number of female students which reflects, how with time, women are progressing and are aiming for bigger and better opportunities in the professional world. And rightly so! We also have students who have work experience, varying from one to three years, of the corporate world – and more excitingly, from diverse industries. Working together with such people has definitely given me the principal tools needed for facing the world & its challenges. In addition, I also feel these interactions are providing room for personal growth and development.<\/p>\n
Having peers from diversified environments enables an individual to learn about different backgrounds and skills of their counterparts, making them better communicators and more socially aware individuals. They are also better equipped to deal with the ever-changing conditions in the workplace. To give a 360-degree experience to students, our faculty frequently assign group projects which help get better insight into everyone’s respective fields. In today’s time of crisis during this pandemic, working together as a team has unquestionably helped me a lot.<\/p>\n
Together, as we study, work, and learn, we build our community. A community that accepts everyone and though extremely diverse, makes everyone feel included. The range here, whether in experience or knowledge, is worth treasuring. The idea of unity in diversity appropriately propagated. SOIL perfectly nurtures people with multiple perspectives and backgrounds, who together bring about harmonious results.<\/p>\n
