As a result, it is critical for any business leader to fully comprehend and appreciate the realities of the development sector. This development will be one-sided, insufficient, and incomplete unless future leaders are fully involved. With this in mind, SOIL has incorporated the Social Innovation Program as an integral course into its curriculum.

The Social Innovation Program at SOIL is a one-of-a-kind intervention in which all students work with an NGO that they care about once a week for the duration of their post-graduate programme. SOIL has partnered with over 30 NGOs in the Delhi NCR region, who work with our students to identify meaningful projects in which SOIL students can develop novel 'solutions' to deep-rooted social, cultural, economic, and environmental issues.

When educational institutions discuss nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), they frequently focus on the roles that NGOs play in society, but they rarely discuss how NGOs can help students improve their academic performance. Not only can NGOs help a student add a sustainability component to any major, but they can also help a student add a sustainability component to any major. Some colleges recognise the value of NGO work and provide students with opportunities to work directly with them; on the other hand, NGOs frequently encourage institutions of higher learning to send students to work with them. Furthermore, students can seek out opportunities to deepen their learning through involvement with non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Working for a non-profit organisation (NGO) should be our long-term goal; there are numerous reasons to work for a non-profit, even if only for a short time. Here are some of the advantages of this giving art:

1. You probably have the right transferable skills:

When applying for a job, the most important determining factor will be whether you have the necessary skills. Many of the skills required for work in non-profits are transferable skills that you will have gained in college. There are many non-profit jobs that require the same skills that you learned in college, such as good organisation, research, and communication skills, so you can fit in without any additional training.

The same is true when transitioning from the non-profit to the for-profit sectors. The skills you develop while working in a non-profit organisation can be easily transferred to a for-profit organisation.

2. Your work will really matter:

Young leaders are brave, can work in a diverse work culture and environment, and, most importantly, follow their interests. I've always followed my passion rather than the pursuit of money. When it comes to 'work that matters,' non-profit jobs provide the opportunity to be a part of something that will have a significant impact on society.

Aside from that, there are a variety of challenges that make working in non-profits particularly appealing. And you could be working for a well-known organisation - the largest NGOs are more well-known in society than many for-profit businesses.

3. Network with the Bosses:

In a for-profit organization, it is almost impossible to get access to the top bosses, let alone get to interact with them. In most non-profit organizations, you can get easy access to the higher managers and also get to interact with them. This will help you to gain valuable experience and connections.

4. You will gain more experience than you think:

Working for a non-profit organisation allows you to meet people from various backgrounds and experience a variety of situations. You are not in a fixed environment where things always happen the same way. So that you can learn new things while working on various projects. In the end, you will discover that you have learned far more than you anticipated.

SOIL intends to do its part for the community and instil compassion in students through such programmes. To improve the world, education must be inclusive and equitable, with a focus on eliminating all forms of discrimination.

The business community is focusing on the development sector and social inclusion more than ever before.
