I saw different cultures, gender, beliefs coming together during our MBA programs. <\/p>\n<p>I would characterise our batch \u201cIlluminators\u201d in SOIL as a group of unique yet similar individuals that aspire to a bright future. The goal of education is to mould the learner into a more sympathetic and responsible human being, not just to provide practical experience with material found in books and online notes or PPTs. All of this is only possible if the learner is in an environment that is rich in diversity and allows for understanding and learning from many perspectives. SOIL is one such unique MBA college that has allowed me to learn from seasoned mentors and equally ambitious colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>Peers are important in everyone&#8217;s part of life. They have an impact on an individual&#8217;s attitude and conduct on numerous cultural and social levels, as well as the development and manifestation of non-prejudicial behaviour. I am glad to share that SOIL has introduced me to people from diverse geographical, cultural, and educational backgrounds. Our Illuminators batch includes people from all across the country like Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and many more places.<\/p>\n<p>People&#8217;s educational backgrounds are also different, filled with people who have previously studied Law, Arts, Engineering, Commerce, and other fields. Thus, our batch has access to the collective background knowledge of bankers, accountants, engineers, social workers, artists and many other professionals. The expertise and information gained from these sectors not only enables us to solve problems from a different perspective, but it also contributes in the generation of new ideas. As the saying goes, collaboration makes the dream come true. We also have students with corporate job experiences ranging from one to three years or more \u2013 and, more excitingly, from a variety of industries. <\/p>\n<p>Working and learning with such amazing peers has undoubtedly provided me with the primary tools I require to face the world and its challenges. Furthermore, I believe that these relationships provide me immense opportunities for personal growth and development.<\/p>\n<p>Diverse contexts allow us to learn about our counterparts&#8217; diverse origins and skills, making us better communicators and more socially conscious individuals. We are also more prepared to deal with the ever-changing working environment. <\/p>\n<p>I believed earlier that diversity didn\u2019t really push up productivity. Oh, I was so wrong! I have worked in various teams for my courses and sessions in the PGPM Flagship Program. To provide our batch with a comprehensive experience, our teachers routinely offered group projects \/ seminars that allowed us to gain a better understanding of their particular subjects. Working together as a team has undoubtedly benefited me a lot in this time, especially during this pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The ideas different mindsets can bring to the table will be priceless when compared to ideas which secluded brains originated. Studying in SOIL taught me diversity from \u201cD\u201d to \u201cY\u201d. It was a roller-coaster to adjust to these new environments, but I learnt a lot of things during my time here. The idea of unity in diversity is appropriately propagated.
