At SOIL, we are exposed to various  CXOs, Industry Leaders &amp; Subject matter experts. This is done through many  formats and channels but the one I find most exciting is the leadership series,  where we students get an opportunity to understand a 360-degree view on how a  leader inspires thousands of people with all the learnings and challenges of their  life. These industry leaders share their insights and experiences of life with  us so that we get a holistic view and identify our own personal strengths to  become good future leaders.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blog-pic\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soil.edu.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/leaders-admire-1.jpg\" alt=\"Leaders I Admire\" title=\"Leaders I Admire\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The main objective of conducting  the leadership series in SOIL is to prepare us for our tomorrows. All of us have  been blessed with unique gifts to work towards our true purpose. When we work  to leverage our gifts towards our purpose, we become inspired leaders. When we  enable others to do so, we build inspired leaders and organizations of  consequence. Hearing to these speakers, we are often mesmerised and my personal  takeaway is usually to grow and achieve great heights, just the way they did in  their life.<\/p>\n<p>One such  prominent leaders, who made a deep impact on me was <strong>Mr<\/strong>. <strong>John Gialouris.<\/strong> He is the Board Member, Pueblo Mechanical  &amp; Controls at Huron Capital. He spoke about his extensive senior executive  roles in global and domestic industrial and commercial companies with both  manufacturing and service organizations. He has led cultural  transformations\/turnarounds, business model transitions and dramatic growth  through innovation and strategic acquisitions. His words were quite enlightening as he gave us  a unique perspective of how he looks at things. One of the most interesting thoughts  that he shared with us was &lsquo;<strong>The  most wonderful thing in the world is a compassionate person and the ugliest  thing in the world is a closed mind and a closed heart<\/strong>&rsquo;<strong>. <\/strong>He taught us that every organization  is a lifeform or a living organism which requires oxygen to be successful and  to get this success, we need 3<strong> key elements-<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"one_column pb_2\">\n<li><strong>Value  Creation &#8211; <\/strong>It is about  how we create a situation where value is developed and expanded<\/li>\n<li><strong>Speed  &#8211; <\/strong>To create said  value, we have to be fast as the world is constantly changing<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Flexibility  &#8211; <\/strong>It is also  important that with the changing world, we have to be flexible and adaptable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If we, young  students can bring the right balance of these 3 key elements in our life, we can  simply create magic in our work life as well.<\/p>\n<p>Another prominent leader who inspired me with  his Leadership Series session was <strong>Dr Vijay Kelkar. <\/strong>He is a man who not  only has clarity of mind but absolute ability to speak the truth. An Indian  economist and academic, he is currently the Chairman of the Forum of  Federations, Ottawa &amp; India Development Foundation, New Delhi and Chairman  of Janwani \u2013 a social initiative of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce,  Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA).<\/p>\n<p>He reminded us that the whole of public policy  has two parts to it &#8211; one is the <strong>science part<\/strong> which requires  conversation among the different set of people to come together and enrich the dialog  through knowledge sharing so that all are involved and think holistically. This  is just the way we collaborate in our group assignments and tasks when we put  our individual thoughts and actions together as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>The second aspect is the <strong>art<\/strong>, that is,  the whole process of aligning people. There is so much interdependence in the  world today, both in public and private sector that to be a good manager, one  must be mindful of what are the public issues going on in the world, what is  there in the society and how do we create an impact through our mindfulness which  is our ability to govern ourselves effectively. When we begin to take responsibilities  and come together as a whole, that is when beautiful things happen.
