At some point of time, it does seem like everything in life is a  priority.\u00a0 While some time, I want the  wind to choose my direction.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blog-pic\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soil.edu.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/words-from-the-wise-faculty-perspectives.jpg\" alt=\"Words from the Wise, Faculty Perspectives\" title=\"Words from the Wise, Faculty Perspectives\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>I have discovered a new self in this last  one and a half years of unpredictable, unprecedented times in our life. And  this is a question; I am asking myself more often.<\/p>\n<p>What just happened?<\/p>\n<p>While I have been intrigued with  unlearning, rethinking and relearning from my life experience, I was thrown  into the deep-end during the last eighteen extraordinary months. Thankfully, my  parents had taught me to swim at the age of four. Parents are such visionaries.  How did they know?<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0\u00a0  had\u00a0\u00a0 to\u00a0\u00a0 have\u00a0\u00a0  a\u00a0\u00a0 virtual\u00a0\u00a0 farewell\u00a0\u00a0  for\u00a0\u00a0 the\u00a0\u00a0 batch\u00a0\u00a0  of sparklers. That last hug, meeting parents and siblings and fianc\u00e9es,  those selfies and promises to meet up again soon, was unfinished.\u00a0\u00a0 We welcomed the Harmonizers online.\u00a0 I knew I had to flip the pages to a new  chapter. Little did I know, we will rewrite the playbook.<\/p>\n<p>There was fear and confusion and covid-19  was a Dracula in the making. During the second wave, it came knocking at our  doors.<\/p>\n<p>My hybrid life is not just a blend of the  digital and physical spaces, it is about rethinking about my work, my life,  habits &amp; hobbies, passion &amp; living in the moment, friends &amp; family,  nature &amp; nurture, connecting &amp; dis-connecting, resting &amp; rushing,  peace &amp; pace, kneeling &amp; healing and so much more.<\/p>\n<p>I dug into the internet to understand the  exploding phenomena of the pandemic. I gained immense learning from stalwarts  across the world through webinars and I searched deep inside for some  answers.\u00a0 I found solace in the fact that  I was still in charge of myself. Sometimes we have to lose our mind, to find  our soul.<\/p>\n<p>The work that we do and carefully nurture  as our career, is life changing. The enthusiastic faces of my students, and the  heated discussions over the case-studies, the laughter and the avowal to create  good learning to change the world was cardinal.<\/p>\n<p>So was that renewed joy, when I could  travel to Kolkata and meet my parents. December was the first few baby steps  after a long hibernation and there was trepidation and fear mixed with joy as  we met a few other friends and family. We were also back at campus.<\/p>\n<p>This was being termed the &lsquo;new normal&rsquo;, as  if it was a warning to accept all of these as a must. The abnormal and the  outlier is an ally too. It always was. I learnt the truth is always quiet.<\/p>\n<p>The unlearning is an important journey.\u00a0 Life is truly transcendental and all these  events in this lifetime, our families, our friends, is our only life. Grief, I  learnt is the unspent love for family and friends, that has no place to go. The  way we live today, is our priority. The way we give today, what we create  today, makes us who you are. Life gives us plenty of options, to learn and  re-live each day.
